Policy Statement

The Nuwara Eliya Regional Council established for 27 rural service domains in the Nuwara Eliya Divisional Secretariat is responsible for maintaining public health services, maintaining public utility services, streamlining all activities on public roads, maintaining the facilities and comfort of the public, maintaining welfare activities, protecting the natural beauty of the area and The work and tasks assigned to this council is to control and administer the wealth.
Therefore, the purpose of the council is to perform the constitutionally assigned duties and responsibilities legally and more effectively.

1. To carry out the provisions of the written rules delegated under the Local Council Act

2. Implementation of the provisions of the local council under other written laws

3. Prevention of infectious diseases and epidemics

4. To promote and protect health education, maternal and child health

5. Regularization and control of dangerous and unpleasant trade activities

6. Inspection of the condition of the items kept for sale in business premises

7. Construction and maintenance of highways, drains, pavements, culverts, ditches, etc..

9. Establishment and maintenance of public markets

10. Street lighting and city beautification

11. Maintenance of cemeteries and crematoriums

14. Running early childhood development centers

15. Establishment and maintenance of playgrounds

16. To enact necessary bye-laws for various purposes

17. Protection and maintenance of environmental cleanliness
